Malibu Beach

Yet another beauty on the North Side of the island, near Chaluklum. Malibu Beach offers something a bit different. It is the setting off and return point for many of the local fisherman on island. As such, you can get a feel of what island life was like, back when….

There is a beautiful path that winds its way through trees and greenery before arriving at the beach, a treat on its own. Once on the beach, there is plenty room to walk and watch the sunset, with views of Chaluklum. There are streams of water that flow and some people like to walk their dogs here.

Haad Yao Beach

Haad Yao is one of my favorite beaches on Koh Phangan, as it is one of the longest and flattest beaches found here (about half mile long). Tidal changes do effect the beach and water levels but if you are here when the tide is out, this beach is terrific for long walks and meditation.

There are a few good massage shops on the beach as well as a few beach restaurants to choose from.

Snorkeling is decent here and renting gear is easy and plentiful.

Mae Haad Beach

Another beach on the Norther part of Koh Phangan, Mae Haad, is one of the more unique beaches, as it has a smaller island (Mae Haad) attached to the larger beach with a sandbar, which you can walk to over the sandbar. Really beautiful and something you must experience at least once, while you are here. The sandbar can be very shallow or waist deep, depending on the tides. And Mae Haad Island is very laid back, has descent snorkeling and an abandoned resort to explore around, as a path on Mae Haad goes by it.

The main beach is a bit built up it is still a beauty and the commercial resorts that are there do offer amenities not found on other beaches.

Haad Son Beach

This is a lovely beach, quiet and beautiful, located on the North side of the island. It’s a bit tricky to get to but easily done. You can either drive down to the Head Son Resort, which by the way is lovely in and of itself. Had Son Resort has a beautiful restaurant with magnificent views of the water, the sunset and the beach. Part of the restaurant is built on a rock point and you can sip cocktails or have something to eat. While you’re waiting for your food, jump off the cliff into the clear water below and easily walk up their steps back to your table.

Haad Son beach is a crescent beach, wonderful to watch sunsets at and has descent reefs for your snorkeling pleasure.

There are a couple of beach side restaurants that offer beers, cold Coconuts, shakes and light food.
