Pum Pui

Pum Pui is my favorite Thai restaurant on the island and some of the Best Thai food I’ve eaten in Thailand.    Chef Porn and his wife, Oil own and operate Pum Pui and are a Fantastic Team.   Chef Porn works his magic in the kitchen, while his wife, Oil, runs the dining room, smoothly and charmingly.

The food here is outstanding!   Chef Porn’s cooking is divine.    He has a way and a finesse with spices that are both well balanced and strikingly delicious.    One would think that Pad Thai is Pad Thai but not here, Chef Porn puts his own spin on this hallmark dish and makes it his own, really a step above everyone else’s, the flavors burst in your mouth and the colors pop on the plate.     Same with his Fried Rice, lots of veggies and a taste that keeps making my fork or spoon dive in for more and more mouthwatering bites.

His fish dishes are also wonderful.   I often eat his whole fish and find every time I eat it, the fish is fresh and flakey and delicious, no matter what kind of sauce I order.    His spring rolls are really good as well, so are his raw spring rolls, wrapped in lettuce and full of veggies with a good dipping sauce.

All the food here is Fantastic.   It is testament to Chef Porn’s exceptional talent and abilities.    I can attest to seeing Chef Porn many times in the morning at Makro with a cart full of fresh produce and other delicacies on his way to the checkout and onto prepare todays dishes.    He makes sure Everything he prepares is fresh and delicious, it is!

And one of the Best things about Chef Porn is his Bursting personality, his Sincere Warmth as a human being, his laughter and charm.    Pum Pui in Thai means big belly, and Chef Porn has that and all the personality that goes along with it, jolly, full of life, sense of humor, hard working and Very Talented!

This place is really not to be missed, my Favorite Thai Restaurant!   For Sure!

Fisherman’s

Fisherman’s is an old favorite on Koh Phangan and for good reason.   It is situated right on the beach in Baan Tai and has a wonderful ambiance and Excellent Fresh Fish and other wonderful items to choose from.    Along with great service, this one is hard to beat.

Founder and Head Chef Khun Thanaporn, also known as Lek on island, is a local born Thai man who has known the sea and fishing all his life, since he was a boy.

Chef Khun Thanaporn and his Irish wife Amanda run an amazing restaurant with Amazing food and in an Amazing atmosphere.     Service is professional, welcoming and efficient.    Food is Fresh and Cooked to perfection, Creatively and Tastefully Presented, always a delight to the eyes and taste buds.

Everything I’ve had here has been Marvelous and you cannot leave Koh Phangan without eating here at least once.

Sati Pot

Eating at Sati Pot, you’ll experience food and atmosphere of Persian/Iranian heritage.

Unusual, casual and welcoming, this spot will delight and satisfy any who are looking for an exotic evening out.

Located in Hin Kong on the connecting road that brings the Beach Road and Middle Road together, it really is a charming atmosphere.

The food is exotic too, Lamb Shank, slow cooked with Saffron and Yogurt sauce, served with a special rice mixed with crushed pistachio, almonds raisins and caramelized onions, yummy!   Or try their Barracuda Fish Filet, deep fried with ginger and garlic and served with rice and a Tamarind sauce, Also yum!   Slow cooked Lamb with Orange and Cinnamon, another winner.   And for Vegetarians there is Veggie Bandari, a mix of fried veggies with Chickpeas, garlic and onion, served on rice with raisin and Tamarind sauce.

All good, all creative, all exotic and fun.  Try it out!

Friendship Concept

Here’s a new and welcome entry to the culinary stage in Koh Phangan.    Friendship Concept is a very well designed and thought out Vegan Eatery on Koh Phangan.    Their concept is to offer Vegan fare that is both creative, tasty and actually looks and taste like meat!

Their Vegan Burgers are really good, try their Sweet Potatoes Fries, which they actually figured out how to make crisp, a feat unto itself!     Their Cheesy Balls are really crispy on the outside and have a melty center, I’m not sure what it’s made of but is sure tastes good!

All this in an attractive setting of brick and black.   Modern, Creative and Tasty!

Senses

Senses is a Modern French Bistro in the middle of Haad Yao, upstairs.

The ambiance here is comfy, warm and inviting.    The food, creative and delicious!

Try their Burgers, lots of choices, juicy and delicious.   Their King Prawns are really good too, as is their Moroccan lam Tagine.    Duck Confit or Caramelised Onion Tart, all good here, you will not regret coming here.
