Indigo Coffee & Bakery

Here’s a pleasant cafe and bakery, located in Hin Kong, just across from the 7-11.

Indigo, has delicious and creative food and baked goods, all done on premises.

I’m not sure who the Chef is here but he does know what he is doing and is professional about it.     Food even comes out of the kitchen quickly, unlike many places on island and is always fresh, presented creatively and thoughtfully, it even tastes great!

Coffee is good here and baked goods are yummy and fresh baked daily.

Try their take on the Israeli dish Shakshouka, it is delicious.    They have a few Veggie Burgers to choose from, which are all really good.    I love their mushroom omelet, served with buttered slices of their homemade breads, along with a side of salad, delicious.   They also have a very creative and delicious breakfast egg sandwich on croissant, to die for, usually sells out after breakfast time.

It’s all good here folks and you can co-work as well, with the many others who have their laptops open, working away, sipping coffee and chewing on some good grub.

Belgian Beer Bistro

This place is Awesome!    If you feel like eating some meat, here you’ll find it done to perfection.    Belgian Beer Bistro is tucked away, just outside Sri Thanu, heading North.   Look for a small sign with its name, drive in about 300 meters park and walk a bit more through beautiful tropical plants to the entrance.

Aside from the expected nice selection of beer’s you’ll find a lively atmosphere that is well decorated and accented with small lights.

The food is outstanding, from their Steaks to their Burgers, whoever is behind the grill, knows how to cook meat and how long to keep it on the grill without over or under cooking.   You want MR or WD you’ll get it here.      Their fish dishes are marvelous here as too, they even have fresh oysters, when available.    Their steamed mussels are delicious as are their scallops and shrimp.

For dessert, do not miss out on their Lava Cake, done to perfection, not over cooked, like many mistakingly do, it oozes out delicious chocolate, yummmm.

Everything is good here, including the service, try it you will like it!

Sirtaki Taverna

When you want a taste of the Greek islands, go here.   The Chef is Greek and his wife runs the dining room.    They recently moved from Sri Thanu, where they had been for years.   Their new location in Thong Sala, just across from Tesco Lotus and it is wonderful.     For ambiance alone, this place is a winner, they have a lovely garden area that is quiet, lush with plant life and peaceful.

And with the food, if you like Greek food, you’ll love Sirtaki.    The Chef prepares everything from scratch and sources the best and freshest ingredients.    Even the Feta Cheese he uses is different than other Feta you usually find on island, it’s really Good!     I love his Lamb Chops and eat them just about every time I go.     They also have a lovely seafood platter, large, fresh and tasty.    What is Greek food without a good grilled Octopus and the Chef knows how to prepare and cook this unusual seafood dish, really good.

All the food is good here, the atmosphere is delightful and your dining experience will be a good one.

Dots

Dots is in the center of Thong Sala, next to Bangkok Bank.    It’s a great cafe/coffee shop and has a nice menu and good vibe.     It’s a co-working place and you’ll see people with their laptops open throughout the day.

Coffee here is very good and their menu is simple but well chosen.    They have a great Pumpkin soup, delicious!  I often go for their cheese and pesto Panini, yum.   There are nice salads here too and they have a nice selection of smoothies and juices to choose from. Their pastries, croissants and cookies always go well with their coffee.

Carrot Cafe

This small cafe located next to the pharmacy in Chaluklum is delightful.    It is owned and operated by a Russian couple, the husband is the Chef and his wife runs the front of house.

They bill themselves as Fresh Healthy Comfort Food and I’ve got to say it sure is.

Being from Russia their hot Borshch is wonderful, eaten with some of their homemade bread, wow!  I often go just for this.   They also have a Cold Beet Soup, which I love.   Their other fare is good too.    Duck Leg Confit, French Omelet with Cheese, Smoked Eggplant Toasts are a few of their menu items.    Lovely food in a lovely atmosphere.
